"The Camelflowers" was an Installation/interactive environment created for a project on my second year of my Degree. People were invited to come and engage with this setting; a fake observation center installed in my garden. This center (image number 4, 5 and 6 from the top) looks out on a setting where an invented species, the Camelflowers, pewter-cast camels merged with a plaster cast of a floral bowl, are positioned in a subtle narrative. The observation center had written information about the "species" and a soundpiece (soon appearing under an audio post on this site) to listen to while looking out of toy-binoculars.
The puppet in the florescent clothing, I have recently decided, is to be given the name "the security guard". His head, to me resembling some kind of ant eater, is made out of second hand material, the body a vest for bikers, stuffed with various soft material and held in shape by an inserted clothes hanger across the back of his head. His sleety looking eyes are made of coloured filt.
